The Secret Con Dao

The hotel is beautiful and what makes this exception is their staff. We had major travel challenges and due to weather could not make it to the hotel as scheduled.Hotel employee and her team accommodated us in every way imaginable. It was like being welcomed home.

Water drainage is very slow, have to take quick 2-3mins shower otherwise water overflow to the bathroom floor

This hotel is in a great location, walking distance to some good resturants and local beaches. The pool is amazing, but water a little hot when you need to feel refreshed after being in sticky heat! Our room was spacious and the large balcony used early mornings and when the heat less intense. The service twice a day from cleaning crew was exceptional, if not a little over the top for an 'eco island'. Breakfast was good, with a variety of options available. We especially loved the huge range of pastries.Con Dao is a slow island compared to other mainland parts of Vietman, so it was just gorgeous to relax by the pool, rest and look at the beach and surrounding islands. You can book tours at hotel, but we did this independantly. Staff supported us in renting motor scooters for a day to explore the island which is highly recommended. Booking.com communication was generally very good with quick replies to any questions etc. Overall, an enjoyable stay. Thank you.

When booking, this hotel takes full payment up front. I had to ask hotel for full payment receipt to be emailed to me, as booking.com did not update payment details within the app etc.On arrival to Con Dao, the hotel bus transfer service is a little annoying, with only going at set times. Meaning, you have to wait at airport both ways depending on your flight choice. Best tip to get the hotel to send bus transfer times through prior to booking flights so you don't have to sit in the bus at airport on arrival or pay for taxi/grab transfer. This hotel is also the only hotel that we experienced in Vitenam, to take a room security deposit (refunded on check out) when you check in, of 2Million VND, which I found odd and not communicated on booking our room. We would have bought more cash to island if we knew this. The hotel say it is for any 'room charges' you may have within your stay. Booking.com 'no hidden fees' do not work in Vietnam as most hotels charge 3-4% on cc payments when paying for rooms on checkin/checkout. Pay in cash if you can to avoid fees.

Almost perfect, but there were some issues with house keeping. Once there were no towels anymore, and one time they skipped cleaning altogether.

Very much liked the swimming pool & the position of the hotelIt was good to be able to sit outside for breakfast. All of the restaurant staff were very good. It was our Golden Wedding Anniversary & our bed was decorated with rose petals & we were given, fruit, chocolates & wonderful cakes which were much appreciated

We booked a city view room with a balcony & expected there would be furniture on the balcony. We knew it wouldn’t be an amazing view but the building opposite was very close, that we had no privacy.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Secret Con Dao - it’s a clean and modern hotel, exactly as described in the pictures. You can hire scooters for 24 hours to get around the island for a small cost, which is great. The pool area was always very quiet and calm.

The staff were lovely and friendly but most of the front desk staff don’t speak English which did make things tricky at times. Also, they add a service charge onto the bill when you eat in the restaurant and we found out this service charge unfortunately doesn’t actually go direct to the staff which we were disappointed about. We did try to challenge it so we could tip our waiter directly so they got the money but they didn’t take it off the bill (I think this was because of the language barrier)

Lovely hotel with a great pool area. Room was very nice, breakfast buffet was really good and the rooftop bar was cool. The multiple restaurants were very good too. The hotel had everything you needed.

Location is central and is close to downtown. Balcony view is okay from the room but fourth floor level has excellent view. Room is spacious and bed is comfy and large. Bathroom design is odd, you can either have privacy for shower and toilet one at a time. Breakfast is abundance only on Saturdays and Sundays but not a lot of options on weekdays. Shuttle pickup is excellent and comforting after getting off the airport. Staff at the restaurants is accommodating and friendly.

A gentleman staff working at the bar slamming the cash register after payment is unprofessional. I have a sore throat and asked for a honey sliced ginger tea but he was agited because he does not know how to make it. Staff could use some training for communications with customers since this is a high end and luxury resort. Price is on a higher side compare to surrounding hotels.

An attractive setup not on the beach but over the road from it . The view of the ocean was good and the public areas were beautiful. The pool area was well laid out.The prisons the town are close the museum is over the road - perfect

The pool area had 20/30 sun beds but 4 sun umbrellas which lacks thought in a hotel of 200 rooms . Not surprisingly the only beds round the pool taken typically were those under the umbrellas . I had a major issue with my first dinner there which the staff were understanding and apologetic of but actions speak and I was surprised to find when I checked the bill the afternoon before leaving that I had been charged for it! They kindly offered me a free massage but insisted , somewhat illogically, that they couldn’t alter the bill after it had been issued . Implying that I would have been totally uncompensated if I’d left it to the morning of departure . Disappointing.The spa is lovely I had a good massage as an apology . The gym lacked aircon I went in for some exercise it was too hot and the upstairs rooftop bar is gorgeous but the walk through corridors and builder’s finish areas detracts . The hotel was full for Tet when I went to the bar it was empty save one guy and three staff members . For a first class hotel the bike hire system seemed half hearted unstructured and under resourced - bikes a great way to see things

Beautiful view, the room was a very good size, and the amenities were very nice. Happy hour at the rooftop bar was a wonderful place to enjoy the sunset.

Our room did not have an enclosed bathroom, it was separated by a fairly sheer curtain. Would have preferred an enclosed bathroom.

The location is very central, a ten minute walk to the town centre & local beach. The bed, bedding & shower are good. The staff are helpful. WiFi signal is strong. Gym good.

The breakfast was disappointingly limited and was not included in the room rate. The evening menu was expensive & not the best quality food. The roof bar was very dark & with loud music even at sunset. The sun beds around the pool are uncomfortable & need padding.

Hotel is newly renovated and modern. The room is also spacious and clean as advertised.

Swimming pool water is quite dirty. Although the breakfast buffet does have a lot of variety, the staff fails to refill the food resulting us not being able to take much food despite coming before 9am.

LOved my stay at the Secret in Con Dao. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Some of the food and snaks we had were disaappointing. We ate out most of the time.
